Whole bird's nest with feathers removed

Whole bird's nest with feathers removed are manually processed while preserving their original shape. The process of feather removal involves using a delicate misting technique to soften the nests slightly, followed by refrigeration and skillful removal of feathers and impurities. This meticulous process requires careful attention and expertise from the craftsmen, as it is time-consuming and labor-intensive. It is essential to start with clean bird's nests with minimal feathers and impurities. Not all types of bird's nests can be processed into this refined form.

Different from refined bird's nests, which are soaked in water and thoroughly cleaned to remove impurities and feathers, whole bird's nests undergo a process of misting and manual removal of impurities. As a result, the nutritional value and quality of the bird's nest fibers in whole bird's nests are often considered superior. The handmade process of preparing dry whole bird's nests helps maintain their original shape and removes approximately 90-95% of impurities found in bird's nests. This process also helps preserve the distinct subtle aroma and the desirable texture of the bird's nest fibers.

Step 1: Soak the bird's nest in clean water for 15-20 minutes to allow it to expand and soften. DO NOT use hot water as it may dissolve the bird's nest and result in nutrient loss. For raw bird's nests, soak them for 30-45 minutes until they become soft, then carefully remove any impurities using tweezers.

Step 2: Cook the soaked bird's nest in a double boiler over low heat for approximately 15-20 minutes until the strands of the bird's nest become translucent.

Step 3: It is best to consume the cooked bird's nest while it is still warm. Alternatively, you can let it cool and store it in the refrigerator (best consumed within 5-7 days).
